Possible Causes
Out-of-spec temperature sensor, Poor sensor contact with cabinet interior, Control board firmware calibration error, Sensor wiring extended or modified
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker before working on internal components.
- Verify actual temperature: Place a reliable oven thermometer or digital probe inside the smoker and compare the reading to the set temperature. Note any large discrepancies.
- Inspect sensor mounting: Inside the cabinet, ensure the fixed temperature probe is firmly attached to the wall and not bent away from the airflow. Tighten mounting screws if loose.
- Check for modified wiring: If the sensor harness has been extended or spliced, resistance may be out of range. Restore the original harness length using OEM parts.
- Replace the temperature sensor: If readings are erratic or far off, replace the cabinet temperature sensor with a Dyna‑Glo OEM part. Route the new harness away from the heating element and secure it with high‑temp clips.
- Control board replacement: If a new sensor does not resolve E8 and temperature remains inaccurate, the control board’s calibration may be faulty. Replace the main control board.
