Possible Causes

Smoker operating in very cold ambient conditions, Temperature sensor reading below range due to failure, Loose sensor connection at control board, Door left open causing rapid heat loss

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the smoker before accessing internal wiring.

  • Check ambient conditions: If using the smoker in very cold weather, pre‑warm the unit by running it empty for 20–30 minutes (once the fault is cleared) and shield it from wind. Avoid using below the manufacturer’s minimum temperature.
  • Verify door seal: Inspect the door gasket for gaps or damage. A poor seal can prevent the smoker from reaching minimum temperature. Replace the door gasket if it is torn, flattened, or missing sections.
  • Inspect sensor connection: Remove the control panel and ensure the temperature sensor plug is fully seated on the control board. Clean any corrosion and reseat firmly.
  • Test the sensor: Measure resistance at room temperature and compare to spec. A sensor reading extremely high resistance may cause a "Lo" condition. Replace the sensor if out of range.
  • Restart the smoker: After correcting issues, plug in, close the door fully, and start a cook cycle. Allow several minutes for the display to update.
