Possible Causes
Secondary thermistor on control board failed, Solder joint crack on thermistor leads, Moisture damage to sensor area, Control board component failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker before accessing the control electronics.
- Open the control housing: Remove screws securing the control panel and gently pull it out to expose the board.
- Inspect for cracked solder joints: Under good lighting, examine the small thermistor components and their solder pads. If you see ring cracks or lifted pads, the board should be replaced.
- Clean and dry: Remove any visible moisture or grease with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush. Allow the board to dry completely.
- Reassemble and test: If t2 remains after cleaning, replace the main control board, as the internal sensor circuit is not serviceable in the field.
