Possible Causes
Clogged grease drain or channel, Missing or misaligned drip pan, Excessive grease buildup on interior surfaces, Smoker not level
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the smoker to cool completely before cleaning grease. Grease is flammable.
- Level the smoker: Use a level and adjust the legs so the smoker tilts slightly toward the grease drain or drip pan.
- Clean drain channels: Locate the grease drain hole or channel and clear any blockage with a brush or pipe cleaner.
- Check drip pan placement: Ensure the drip pan is correctly installed under the drain outlet and not overflowing. Empty it regularly.
- Remove excess grease: Clean heavy grease from the interior walls, floor, and under the water pan with a degreaser suitable for smokers.
