Possible Causes
Faulty cabinet temperature sensor, Sensor coated with heavy grease, Control board calibration drift, Sensor relocated or bent away from airflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and cool the smoker before touching the sensor.
- Verify with a reference thermometer: Place an oven thermometer inside and compare to the display. Note how far off the reading is.
- Clean the sensor: Locate the fixed probe inside the cabinet and gently clean off grease with a non‑abrasive pad and mild degreaser. Avoid bending it.
- Check sensor position: Ensure the probe is in its original location and not bent into a corner or shielded by foil or pans.
- Replace the sensor: If readings remain inaccurate, replace the cabinet temperature sensor with an OEM part.
- Control board replacement: If a new sensor does not correct the overshoot, the control board’s control algorithm may be faulty and should be replaced.
