• Visual check of element: Remove racks and pans to expose the element. Look for cracks, breaks, or heavy rust. Replace if damaged.
• Test element continuity: Access the rear/bottom to reach the element terminals. Disconnect one lead and measure resistance across the element. An open reading indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
• Inspect high‑limit thermostat: Find the high‑limit disc thermostat in the wiring to the element. Test for continuity at room temperature. Replace if open and not resettable.
• Check wiring and connectors: Tighten loose spade terminals and replace any burnt connectors with high‑temp versions.
• Control board relay: If the element and high‑limit are good, the control board may not be sending power. Listen for a relay click when starting a cook. If absent and voltage is not present at the element, replace the control board.
