Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker immediately if it overheats. Allow it to cool fully before inspection.
Steps:
- Verify sensor placement: Ensure the RTD probe is not touching the cold wall or located too close to the door where it reads cooler than the actual chamber.
- Compare temperatures: Use an independent thermometer to compare actual chamber temperature to the display. If the display is much lower, the sensor is faulty.
- Inspect control board: Remove the control panel and inspect the heating relay on the main board. If it is visibly burned or stuck, the board must be replaced.
Repair: Replace the RTD temperature sensor probe if readings are inaccurate. If the element continues to heat when the control is off or at low setpoints, replace the main control board (stuck relay).
