Safety first: Unplug the smoker before removing the control panel.

Steps:

Remove the screws securing the front control panel or bezel on your GE Profile smoker.
Carefully pull the panel forward to expose the ribbon cable or harness connecting the keypad to the main control board.
Disconnect the ribbon cable, inspect for corrosion or bent pins, then reconnect firmly. Ensure the cable is fully seated and not twisted.
Check for signs of moisture, condensation, or grease inside the control housing. Dry gently with a lint-free cloth and allow the panel to air dry for several hours if moisture is present.
Inspect the touchpad surface for physical damage or delamination.
Reassemble and test. If E6 returns or buttons still do not respond, the keypad assembly or main control board may need replacement.

Because control electronics are delicate, replacement is often easier and more reliable than attempting board-level repair.

Smoker display shows E6 and controls are unresponsive or erratic.
