Possible Causes
Misaligned door latch, Failed magnetic reed switch or micro-switch, Broken door strike, Loose switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before adjusting the door or switch.
Door and switch checks:
- Inspect the door gasket and hinges to ensure the door closes fully and evenly. Adjust hinges if the door is sagging.
- Locate the door switch assembly (often near the top or side of the door frame). It may be a plunger-style micro-switch or a magnetic reed switch.
- Check the door strike or magnet on the door for damage or misalignment. Tighten screws and realign so it meets the switch squarely when closed.
- Remove the inner trim to access the switch wiring. Inspect for loose connectors or broken wires and repair as needed.
- Test the switch with a multimeter for continuity when the door is closed. Replace the switch if it does not change state reliably.
After repair, confirm that the door closes firmly and that the E9 error clears when the door is latched.
