Possible Causes
Partially failed heating element, Low supply voltage, Excessive heat loss due to damaged door gasket, Faulty temperature sensor reading high
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and cool the smoker before inspection.
Checks:
- Verify the smoker is plugged directly into a dedicated 120V outlet without long extension cords.
- Inspect the door gasket for gaps, tears, or compression loss. Replace the gasket if it does not seal tightly all around.
- Check for large air leaks around the vent or seams and tighten screws or reseal as needed.
- Test the heating element resistance and compare to specifications; a significantly higher resistance than normal can reduce wattage and heating capacity.
- Confirm the temperature sensor is clean and not coated with heavy grease, which can cause false high readings and early shutoff.
