Possible Causes
Grease on heating element burning off, Melted wiring insulation near heater, Failing fan motor, Foreign object contacting hot surfaces
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the smoker immediately if you smell burning plastic or insulation. Do not continue to operate until the source is found.
Steps:
- After cooling, inspect the heating element area for grease buildup or food debris contacting the element; clean thoroughly.
- Remove access panels and look for discolored or melted wiring, especially near the heater and fan motor. Replace any damaged wiring with high-temperature rated wire.
- Spin the fan blades by hand; if stiff or noisy, the motor may be overheating and should be replaced.
- Check that no plastic accessories or foil are touching hot surfaces inside the chamber.
