Possible Causes
Misaligned door latch, Failed magnetic or mechanical door switch, Broken door strike
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker before adjusting the door or switch.
- Inspect door closure: Close the door slowly and verify it aligns evenly with the cabinet. Look for gaps or twisted hinges.
- Check latch and strike: Examine the door latch and the cabinet strike plate or magnet. Tighten any loose screws and ensure the latch fully engages when the door is closed.
- Locate door switch: Find the door switch (mechanical plunger or magnetic reed) near the door frame. Press it manually (for plunger types) and listen for a click.
- Test continuity: With the smoker unplugged, disconnect the switch and test continuity while pressing and releasing it. Replace the switch if it does not open and close reliably.
- Adjust door alignment: If the door is sagging, slightly loosen the hinge screws, lift the door into proper alignment, and retighten.
