Possible Causes
Failed heating relay contacts, Burned solder joint on relay terminals, Overheated triac controlling element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker and wait for all components to cool. Working on live circuits is dangerous.
- Access control board: Remove the control housing cover to expose the main PCB.
- Inspect power relay: Identify the large relay or triac that feeds the heating element. Look for burn marks, cracked casing, or darkened PCB around its pins.
- Check solder joints: Examine the underside of the board (if accessible) for cracked or ringed solder joints at the relay terminals. Resolder only if you are experienced with electronics repair.
- Verify element and wiring first: Before condemning the board, confirm the heating element and wiring test good with a multimeter as described in the E5 procedure.
- Replace board if needed: If the element and wiring are good and the relay shows signs of failure, replace the entire control board assembly according to the service manual.
