Possible Causes

Open heating element, Failed relay on main control board, Burned or loose element wiring at terminal block

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the smoker and verify the cabinet is cool before working near the element.

  • Inspect the heating element: Open the smoker door and visually inspect the element for breaks, heavy corrosion, or warping. A visible break indicates a failed element.
  • Check rear connections: Remove the rear access panel to expose the element terminals. Ensure both wires are firmly attached and not burned or discolored.
  • Test element resistance: Disconnect at least one wire from the element and measure resistance across the terminals with a multimeter. A very high or infinite reading indicates an open element that must be replaced.
  • Inspect control board relay: With the back panel open, locate the heating element relay on the control board. Look for burn marks or melted plastic. If the relay is visibly damaged, the board will need replacement.
  • Verify supply voltage: Confirm that the smoker is connected to a properly grounded outlet with the correct voltage as specified on the rating plate. Low or incorrect voltage can trigger element faults.
