Possible Causes
Blocked control housing ventilation, Failed internal board temperature sensor, Control board overheating due to grease or moisture
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker and allow it to cool. Do not operate with panels removed.
- Check ventilation: Ensure the smoker is not installed in a confined space and that the control housing vents are not blocked by grease, foil, or debris.
- Inspect control housing: Remove the control panel cover and look for grease buildup, moisture, or insect nests around the control board. Clean gently with a dry cloth and compressed air; avoid soaking the board.
- Verify ambient conditions: Avoid operating the smoker in direct sun or in very high ambient temperatures that can overheat the electronics.
- Reseat connectors: Gently press all connectors on the control board to ensure they are fully seated. A loose internal sensor connection can trigger E6.
- Test again: Reassemble, plug in, and run the smoker empty on a low setting. If E6 returns quickly, the control board's internal sensor is likely faulty and the board should be replaced.
