Safety first: Unplug the smoker before adjusting the door or switch.

Steps:

• Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and the latch engages. Adjust hinges or latch screws if the door is sagging.
• Inspect door gasket: A deformed gasket can prevent full closure. Replace if badly compressed or torn.
• Locate the door switch: Klarstein smokers often use a magnetic reed switch on the frame and a magnet on the door. Verify the magnet is still present and aligned with the switch.
• Test the switch: With the unit unplugged, remove the front trim to access the switch. Test continuity across the switch while opening and closing the door (or moving a magnet near it). Replace if it does not change state.
• Repair wiring: If the switch is good, inspect its wiring back to the control board for breaks or loose connectors.
