Smoker trips the household circuit breaker or RCD when turned on or when heating starts.

Safety first: Unplug the smoker and do not reset the breaker repeatedly.

Steps:

• Inspect cord and plug: Replace if there are any signs of damage.
• Check element for ground fault: Disconnect both wires from the heating element. Measure resistance from each terminal to the metal chassis. Any reading other than OL indicates a ground fault; replace the element.
• Inspect internal wiring: Look for wires pinched between panels or melted against the element. Repair or replace as needed.
• Dry moisture: If the smoker was stored outdoors, allow it to dry thoroughly and inspect the control board for corrosion or moisture. Replace the board if damaged.
