Display shows E7 and the smoker will not maintain set temperature, often fluctuating widely or shutting down.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker and allow it to cool before accessing sensors.
Steps to check secondary sensor:
- Identify the second sensor: Some Landmann models use a second NTC sensor near the exhaust or in the control housing. Refer to your model layout to locate it.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor leads to the control board. Look for pinched, cut, or melted insulation. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Check connectors: Reseat the sensor plug on the control board. Clean any corrosion with contact cleaner.
- Test resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to the main cabinet sensor; they should be similar if they are the same type. Replace if open, shorted, or far out of spec.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing or reconnecting, reassemble panels and test for stable temperature control without E7.
Note: If the sensor is good but E7 remains, the control board’s secondary sensor circuit is likely defective and the board should be replaced.
