Possible Causes

Partially failed heating element, Loose element wiring, Excessive heat loss due to door gasket leak, Faulty temperature sensor reading too high

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the smoker and let it cool before accessing internal parts.

Steps to improve heating:

  • Check door seal: Inspect the Landmann door gasket for gaps, tears, or hardened sections. Close the door on a sheet of paper; if it pulls out easily, the seal is weak. Replace the gasket if damaged.
  • Inspect heating element: Remove the lower interior components to view the element. Look for breaks, heavy scaling, or discoloration. From the rear, check that both terminals are firmly connected.
  • Test element resistance: With power disconnected and wires removed, measure resistance across the element. A significantly higher resistance than spec can indicate a weak element that should be replaced.
  • Check sensor accuracy: Compare the smoker’s displayed temperature with a reliable oven thermometer placed near the center rack. If the display reads much higher than actual, the sensor may be faulty and should be replaced.
  • Reduce heat loss: Avoid opening the door frequently and shield the smoker from strong wind when used outdoors.
