Possible Causes
Moisture under keypad overlay, Cracked control panel PCB, Loose ribbon cable between keypad and main board, Worn-out membrane switches
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker before removing the control panel.
- Dry the panel: If the smoker has been stored outdoors or exposed to rain, allow the control panel to dry in a warm, dry area. Do not use direct high heat.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the control panel cover and check the flat ribbon cable between the keypad and main board. Reseat both ends and ensure there are no cracks or kinks.
- Check for corrosion: Look for green or white corrosion on connectors. Clean gently with electrical contact cleaner and a soft brush.
- Replace control panel: If specific buttons never work or the PCB is cracked, replace the entire control panel or keypad assembly as supplied by Masterbuilt.
