Possible Causes
Cabinet temperature sensor unplugged, Broken sensor wire at cabinet penetration, Sensor connector not seated on control board, Control board sensor input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker and let it cool before removing panels.
- Locate sensor wiring: Find the cabinet temperature sensor inside the smoker and trace its wire to the control board.
- Check connections: Ensure the sensor plug is fully seated on the control board and that any in-line connectors are tight.
- Inspect for damage: Look where the sensor wire passes through the cabinet wall. If the insulation is cut or the wire is broken, replace the sensor assembly.
- Test sensor: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the sensor leads. An open circuit indicates a failed sensor that must be replaced.
- Replace control board if needed: If a known-good sensor is installed and the display still shows dashes, the control board is likely faulty.
