Possible Causes
Cabinet temperature sensor probe shorted, Sensor wire insulation melted and touching metal, Moisture inside sensor connector, Control board sensor circuit failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker and let it cool completely before inspection.
- Inspect sensor and wiring: Locate the cabinet temperature sensor inside the smoker and follow its wire. Look for melted insulation, bare wires touching the metal cabinet, or signs of moisture.
- Dry and clean: If the connector is wet or greasy, disconnect it and dry thoroughly. Clean with electrical contact cleaner and allow to air dry before reconnecting.
- Check for shorts: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the sensor leads. A near-zero reading or fluctuating reading that changes when you flex the wire can indicate a shorted sensor or cable.
- Replace sensor if needed: If the sensor is shorted or physically damaged, replace the entire temperature sensor probe assembly.
- Control board evaluation: If a new sensor does not clear Err2, the control board may be defective and require replacement.
