Possible Causes
Shorted temperature sensor reading low, Sensor dislodged from mounting, Stuck heating relay on control board, High-limit thermostat not opening
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker immediately if it overheats. Allow it to cool fully before inspection.
- Inspect sensor placement: Ensure the temperature sensor probe is firmly mounted in its bracket and not touching the heating element or walls.
- Clean sensor: Remove heavy grease buildup from the sensor to restore accurate readings.
- Sensor replacement: If the smoker consistently overshoots, replace the NTC temperature sensor probe.
- Control board check: If heating continues even when the set temperature is reached or the unit is turned off, the heating relay may be stuck closed. Replace the main control PCB and do not use the smoker until repaired.
