Safety first: Unplug and allow the smoker to cool before touching the element or internal wiring.

• Check for warmth: After starting a cycle, carefully feel near (not on) the element area. If it stays completely cold, proceed with inspection.
• Inspect element and wiring: Look for breaks in the element and ensure all connectors are firmly attached and not burned.
• Test high-limit thermostat: Locate the high-limit thermostat and test for continuity when cool. Replace if open.
• Element continuity: Use a multimeter to test the element. Replace if open.
• Control board: If all heating components test good, the heating relay or triac on the main control PCB is likely faulty and the board should be replaced.
