Display shows Er6 and the smoker will not start or shuts off unexpectedly.

Safety first: Unplug the smoker before inspecting the door switch.

• Check door closure: Make sure the door closes fully and the latch pulls it tight. Adjust the latch if the door is loose or misaligned.
• Locate the door switch: It is typically mounted near the door frame or behind the front panel. Look for a small plunger switch or magnetic reed switch.
• Test operation: With the smoker unplugged, press the switch by hand and listen for a click. Use a multimeter to test continuity when the switch is pressed and released.
• Inspect magnet (if used): If your model uses a magnet in the door, ensure it is still in place and aligned with the reed switch. Replace if missing or cracked.
• Replace faulty parts: If the switch does not change state electrically, replace the door switch assembly. Repair any damaged wiring with proper connectors and heat-resistant wire.
