Possible Causes
Incorrect line voltage, failing internal power supply on control board, loose power cord connection, damaged power inlet or fuse (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker before inspecting power components.
- Verify outlet: Confirm the smoker is plugged into a properly grounded 120V AC outlet (in North America) with sufficient amperage. Avoid extension cords; if necessary, use a heavy-gauge cord only.
- Inspect power cord: Check the Pit Boss power cord for cuts, burns, or loose prongs. Replace the power cord if damaged.
- Check power inlet and fuse: On models with a removable power inlet or internal fuse, inspect for signs of overheating or a blown fuse. Replace with the same rating if blown.
- Control board power section: Remove the control panel and inspect the board for burned components near the AC input. If present, the board must be replaced.
- Use surge protection: After repair, plug the smoker into a surge-protected outlet to reduce future power-related errors.
