Possible Causes

Standing water from overfilled water pan, inadequate cleaning and drying, damaged enamel coating, exposure to harsh cleaners

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Work in a well-ventilated area when using rust removers or paints.

  • Remove loose rust: Scrub affected areas with a wire brush or abrasive pad to remove loose rust.
  • Dry thoroughly: After each use, empty the water pan and drip pan, then leave the door slightly open to dry the interior.
  • Touch-up coating: Apply a high-temperature, food-safe paint or seasoning oil to bare metal areas to slow further rusting.
  • Prevent standing water: Do not leave water in the pan between cooks and ensure the drip pan and drain are clear.
