Possible Causes
Burned heater relay contacts, Failed triac on main PCB, Overheated control board due to poor ventilation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker. Do not attempt component-level board repair unless you are qualified; replacing the board is safer.
- Verify supply voltage: Confirm the outlet provides correct voltage with a multimeter and that the smoker's power cord is intact.
- Inspect control board: Remove the control housing to access the main PCB. Look for burn marks, cracked solder joints, or a melted relay case.
- Check heater output: With the smoker unplugged, locate the two wires from the control board to the heating element. Check continuity from the board terminals to the element to rule out wiring breaks.
- Test relay operation (advanced): If you are experienced, you can energize the smoker and listen for a click from the heater relay when turning the unit on. No click plus visible damage suggests a failed relay/board.
- Replace control board: Disconnect all harnesses (label them if needed), remove mounting screws, and install a new OEM Smokehouse control board. Reconnect harnesses and reassemble.
