Safety first: Unplug the smoker before opening the control panel.

Steps to troubleshoot:

Dry the panel: If the smoker was recently washed or exposed to rain, allow the control panel to dry thoroughly. Do not spray water directly on the controller in the future.
Inspect keypad cable: Remove the controller bezel and locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board. Ensure it is fully inserted and locked in place.
Clean contacts: If accessible, gently clean the ribbon contacts and board connector with electronic contact cleaner and let dry.
Check for physical damage: Look for cracks in the keypad overlay or punctures that could allow moisture in. If the keypad is physically damaged or unresponsive on specific buttons, replacement is recommended.
Replace assembly: Many Smokin-It controllers use an integrated keypad/display module. Replace the entire front controller assembly if the keypad has failed.

Note: If E6 persists after cable and moisture checks, the control board may also be damaged and should be evaluated by a technician.
