Possible Causes
Loose Wi-Fi module connector, Failed Wi-Fi module, Firmware mismatch between controller and module, Electrical noise or interference on communication lines
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker before accessing internal electronics.
Troubleshooting steps:
- Power cycle: Unplug the smoker for 2–3 minutes, then plug back in and check if E9 clears.
- Check antenna and module: Locate the Wi-Fi module (often a small board or dongle near the controller). Ensure its connector is firmly seated and the antenna (if external) is not damaged.
- Inspect wiring: Look for pinched or damaged communication cables between the main board and Wi-Fi module.
- Reset network (if supported): Follow the manual's procedure to reset Wi-Fi settings and re-pair with the app.
- Module replacement: If E9 persists and app control is non-functional, replace the Wi-Fi module with a compatible Smokin-It part. In some cases, the main controller may also need a firmware update or replacement.
Note: The smoker can typically still be used in manual mode even if E9 is present, but remote features will be unavailable until repaired.
