Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between keypad and control board, Damaged keypad overlay, Moisture behind control panel, Failed user interface board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the smoker before opening the control panel.
Steps:
- Remove the screws securing the front control panel. Carefully pull the panel forward to expose the keypad ribbon cable.
- Inspect the ribbon cable for kinks, cracks, or corrosion at the connector. Reseat the cable firmly into the control board socket.
- Check for moisture or grease behind the keypad overlay. If present, gently dry with a lint‑free cloth and allow the area to air dry completely.
- If certain buttons do not respond or E6 persists, the keypad overlay or user interface assembly is likely defective.
- Order the correct keypad or front control assembly for your Smokin Tex model. Transfer it carefully, ensuring the gasket or seal is intact to prevent future moisture intrusion.
Note: Do not use sharp tools on the keypad surface; you can puncture the membrane and worsen the fault.
