Possible Causes
Failed heating element, Loose or burned element terminals, Faulty thermostat or temperature controller, Open high‑limit thermostat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the smoker and let it cool completely before touching the element or wiring.
Steps:
- Visually inspect the heating element inside the cabinet for cracks, breaks, or heavy corrosion.
- Access the rear or bottom panel to reach the element terminals. Tighten any loose nuts and replace burned connectors.
- With the smoker unplugged, disconnect one wire from the element and measure resistance across the element. An infinite reading indicates a bad element that must be replaced.
- Check continuity through the high‑limit thermostat and main thermostat/control. If either is open at room temperature, replace the faulty component.
- After replacing parts, reassemble panels securely before test heating.
Note: Do not bypass thermostats or safety cutouts; they prevent dangerous overheating.
