Possible Causes
Worn latch mechanism on connector, Debris in latch or inlet, Deformed connector housing, Misalignment due to cable strain
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: A secure latch is required for safe charging.
- Inspect latch: Examine the connector latch for broken springs, bent parts, or debris. Clean with a soft brush if necessary.
- Check vehicle inlet: Look for obstructions or damage in the vehicle’s inlet latch area.
- Relieve strain: Ensure the cable is not pulling sideways on the connector when plugged in; use a cable support if needed.
- Lubrication: If allowed by ABB and vehicle manufacturer, apply a very small amount of plastic-safe dry lubricant to the latch mechanism.
- Replace connector: If the latch is worn or broken, replace the entire cable and connector assembly.
