Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Switch OFF the upstream breaker and lock it out if possible. Wait at least 60 seconds before opening the charger housing.
Diagnostic steps:
- Test with another EV: If possible, connect a different vehicle. If the second vehicle charges normally, the issue is likely with the first EV, not the ABL charger.
- Inspect the Type 2 socket: Check for foreign objects, corrosion, or mechanical damage. Clean gently with a dry brush. Do not spray cleaners into the socket.
- Check internal harness: With power OFF and cover removed, verify that the CP/PP harness from the Type 2 socket to the ABL main control board is fully seated and not pinched or cut.
- Firmware check (installer/advanced user): If your ABL model supports app or web configuration, log in and check for firmware updates. Apply only official ABL firmware and follow their update procedure.
- Power‑cycle and retest: Reassemble, restore power, wait for the self‑test to complete, then reconnect the vehicle.
Escalation: Persistent E02 with multiple vehicles and cables usually indicates a defective Type 2 socket module or main control board. Have an authorized ABL service partner test and replace the faulty module.
