Possible Causes

Shorted output stage in ABL power module, Internal wiring short to chassis, Incorrectly sized or defective upstream breaker causing nuisance trips, Faulty current sensor on ABL power board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Do not repeatedly reset breakers without identifying the cause. Risk of fire or equipment damage.

Steps:

  • Check upstream protection: Verify that the breaker and cable size match the configured current of the ABL charger.
  • Visual inspection: With power OFF, open the charger and inspect for burn marks, melted insulation, or obvious shorts.
  • Test without vehicle: Restore power with no vehicle connected. If E09 appears immediately, the fault is internal to the charger.
  • Test with reduced current: If configuration allows, set a lower maximum current and test with a vehicle. If E09 disappears, investigate for borderline wiring or breaker sizing.

Technician repair: Internal short circuits or failed current sensors require replacement of the ABL power module or current sensor assembly. Perform insulation and continuity tests before returning the unit to service.
