Possible Causes
Damaged or mis‑seated enclosure gasket, Loose cable glands on bottom entry, Installation in area with high humidity and temperature swings, Cracked housing or cover
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Moisture inside an EV charger can cause arcing and corrosion. Switch off power at the breaker before opening the unit.
- Step 1 – Power down and dry: Turn off the charger and gently open the enclosure. Allow it to dry completely; use a dry cloth and, if needed, a low‑heat fan (no direct heat guns).
- Step 2 – Inspect seals: Check the perimeter gasket of the front cover for damage, dirt, or misalignment. Clean and reseat or replace if necessary.
- Step 3 – Check cable glands: Ensure all cable glands are tightened to the manufacturer’s specification and that the rubber inserts grip the cables firmly.
- Step 4 – Look for cracks: Inspect the plastic housing and cover for hairline cracks that could admit water. Replace damaged parts.
- Step 5 – Improve installation environment: If installed in a very damp location, consider adding a small canopy or relocating if allowed.
- When to call a technician: If corrosion is visible on the PCB or terminals, a technician should assess and replace affected components.
