Possible Causes

Stuck or jammed Type 2 socket locking pin, Failed lock actuator motor, Broken lock position sensor, Mechanical damage from forced unplugging

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Do not force the connector out; this can cause further damage.

  • Stop charging: End the charging session via the app or RFID card if possible, then wait for the lock to attempt to release.
  • Gently support the plug: While the lock attempts to move, gently support (but do not pull hard on) the plug to reduce mechanical load.
  • Power‑cycle: Turn off the charger at the breaker for 2–3 minutes, then restore power and try to lock/unlock again.
  • Check for debris: Inspect the socket area for foreign objects or ice (in cold climates). Remove debris carefully without tools that could damage the plastic.
  • If still jammed: A technician should open the unit, inspect the lock actuator, linkage, and position sensor, lubricate with an EV‑safe plastic‑compatible lubricant if recommended, or replace the lock assembly.
