Possible Causes

Stuck proximity switch in J1772 handle, Shorted proximity wire in cable, Faulty proximity input on control board, Software not updating state correctly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: This is primarily a logic issue, but cable faults can be hazardous. Turn OFF power before cable inspection.

  • 1. Inspect handle trigger:
    • Ensure the latch/trigger returns fully when not connected to a vehicle.
  • 2. Power-cycle:
    • Turn OFF the breaker for a few minutes, then restore power and check status.
  • 3. Check cable:
    • With power OFF, open the charger and inspect the proximity wire connection on the control board.
    • Look for shorts or pinched wires.
  • 4. Replace cable assembly: If the proximity switch in the handle is stuck or shorted, replace the AMPROAD J1772 cable & handle assembly.
