Possible Causes
Insufficient clearance around charger, Blocked ventilation openings, Failing internal cooling fan, High ambient temperature near unit (e.g., direct sun, enclosed cabinet)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: If the enclosure is too hot to touch comfortably, stop using the charger and turn OFF the breaker until inspected.
- 1. Improve airflow:
- Ensure the AMPROAD charger is not enclosed in a tight cabinet or covered by objects.
- Maintain recommended clearances on all sides.
- 2. Shade the unit:
- If installed outdoors in direct sun, consider adding a shade or relocating to a cooler location (per AMPROAD guidelines).
- 3. Check internal fan:
- With power ON and charging, listen for the internal fan.
- If no fan noise is heard when the unit is hot, the fan may have failed and should be replaced.
- 4. Clean vents:
- With power OFF, remove dust and debris from vents and fan using dry compressed air.
- 5. Reduce current: Temporarily lower the maximum current setting in the app to reduce heat until a permanent fix is implemented.
