Possible Causes
Dirty or oxidized pins on J1772 connector, Weak pilot signal amplitude, Sticking proximity switch in handle, Loose cable harness connection on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power before opening the unit. Do not insert tools into the vehicle inlet or connector.
- 1. Try another vehicle:
- If another EV charges normally, the issue may be with the original vehicle.
- 2. Inspect and clean connector:
- Examine the J1772 pins for dirt or oxidation.
- Clean gently with a dry, lint-free cloth.
- 3. Check handle operation:
- Ensure the trigger/latch moves freely and is not stuck partially engaged.
- 4. Internal cable check:
- With power OFF, open the charger and verify the cable harness is fully seated on the control board.
- 5. Replace cable assembly: If intermittent operation persists and the handle or cable shows wear, replace the AMPROAD J1772 cable & handle assembly.
