Possible Causes
Damaged J1772 charge handle, Broken pilot signal wire in charge cable, Faulty control board pilot driver circuit, Corroded or bent pilot pin in connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the charger at the breaker and verify no LEDs are lit before touching any wiring. Do not open the unit if you are not comfortable working around mains voltage.
- 1. Power-cycle the charger: Turn the dedicated breaker OFF for 2–3 minutes, then back ON. Reconnect the vehicle and see if E01 clears.
- 2. Inspect the J1772 connector:
- Check the small pilot pin (usually the thin pin) for bending, corrosion, or contamination.
- Clean gently with a dry, soft brush. Do not use liquids or metal tools.
- 3. Check the cable for damage:
- Run your hand along the AMPROAD charge cable from the wall unit to the handle.
- Look for cuts, kinks, crushed sections, or melted insulation that could break the pilot conductor.
- 4. Test with another vehicle (if available): If another EV charges normally, the issue may be with the original vehicle’s inlet, not the charger.
- 5. Internal inspection (advanced):
- With power OFF and breaker locked out, remove the AMPROAD front cover.
- Locate the control board and the cable harness connector labeled for pilot/CP.
- Check for loose connectors, burnt spots, or broken solder joints on the pilot driver circuit.
- When to stop: If the cable or connector is physically damaged, or the control board shows burn marks, do not attempt board-level repair. Replace the affected assembly or contact an authorized AMPROAD service technician.
