Charger displays E02 and refuses to start; vehicle does not lock the connector or begin charging.

Safety: Switch OFF the charger at the breaker before inspecting the connector or opening the unit.

• 1. Reseat the connector:
  • Unplug the J1772 handle from the vehicle and plug it back in firmly until you hear/feel a click.
  • Ensure the vehicle’s charge port door is fully open and unobstructed.
• 2. Inspect the handle:
  • Check the AMPROAD handle for cracks, loose trigger, or stuck latch.
  • Make sure the latch/trigger moves freely and returns to its rest position.
• 3. Check for debris:
  • Look inside the vehicle inlet and the handle for dirt, ice, or foreign objects.
  • Clean gently with a dry cloth or compressed air (low pressure).
• 4. Cable continuity (advanced):
  • With power OFF and unit open, locate the cable harness connector on the control board.
  • Use a multimeter to check continuity of the proximity (PP) conductor from the board to the handle.
• 5. Replace components as needed:
  • If the handle trigger is broken or PP switch is intermittent, replace the entire AMPROAD J1772 handle & cable assembly.
  • If continuity is good but E02 persists, the proximity detection circuit on the control board may be defective and the control board should be replaced.
