Possible Causes

Blocked ventilation around charger, Failed internal cooling fan, High ambient temperature exceeding spec, Loose or overheated power terminals, Faulty temperature sensor on power board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Overheating can lead to fire. Turn OFF the breaker and allow the unit to cool before touching it.

  • 1. Check installation clearance:
    • Ensure at least the manufacturer-recommended clearance around the AMPROAD charger (typically several inches on all sides).
    • Remove any objects blocking airflow or covering vents.
  • 2. Inspect for dust and debris:
    • With power OFF, open the enclosure and gently blow out dust from heat sinks, vents, and the internal fan using dry compressed air.
  • 3. Verify fan operation:
    • Restore power and start a charge session while observing the internal cooling fan (if visible through vents).
    • If the fan does not spin when the unit is under load, the fan or its driver circuit may be faulty and should be replaced.
  • 4. Check terminal tightness:
    • Turn power OFF again and inspect the main power terminals for discoloration or melted insulation.
    • Tighten loose terminals and replace any heat-damaged wiring.
  • 5. Temperature sensor check:
    • If the unit reports E05 even when cold, the temperature sensor on the power board may be defective.
    • Replace the power board or sensor assembly per AMPROAD service documentation.
  • 6. Retest: After corrections, power-cycle the unit and run a monitored charge session to confirm normal operation without E05.
