Possible Causes
Degraded insulation in output cable, Moisture on power board or inside enclosure, Faulty insulation monitoring circuit, Contamination between high-voltage traces on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: An insulation fault can lead to electric shock. Turn OFF the breaker and do not use the charger until the issue is resolved.
- 1. Inspect cable and handle:
- Look for cracks, cuts, or abrasions on the AMPROAD cable.
- Check the handle for signs of water ingress or cracks.
- 2. Dry the unit:
- If the charger is outdoors, check for water inside the enclosure.
- Dry thoroughly and improve sealing (replace gaskets or cable glands if needed).
- 3. Internal inspection:
- With power OFF, inspect the power board for contamination (dust, insects, corrosion) between high-voltage components.
- Clean with appropriate electronics cleaner and a soft brush.
- 4. Insulation test (qualified only):
- Use a megohmmeter to test insulation resistance between live conductors and ground according to AMPROAD specifications.
- 5. Replace faulty parts:
- If the cable fails insulation tests, replace the AMPROAD output cable & handle assembly.
- If the board is damaged, replace the power board.
