Possible Causes

High resistance earth connection in Andersen backplate wiring, Loose earth terminal in charger terminal block, Faulty PME/earth monitoring circuit on main control PCB, Corroded earth bonding to mounting plate or supply earth bar

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not use the charger until the earth fault is resolved. Turn off the circuit at the consumer unit and lock off if possible.

Basic checks (visual only unless you are a qualified electrician):

  • Check supply breaker: Confirm the dedicated MCB/RCBO for the Andersen charger is fully ON and not partially tripped.
  • Inspect external earth bonding: Look at the earth conductor entering the Andersen backplate. Ensure it is not loose, damaged, or corroded. Do not loosen or re‑terminate unless you are competent and authorised.
  • Check for moisture: Open the front cover (if safe and allowed) and visually inspect for signs of water ingress or corrosion around the earth terminal block and metal backplate.
  • Power cycle: After visual checks, restore power and see if the error clears. Use the Andersen app to run any available diagnostic.

For a qualified electrician/technician:

  • Verify earth continuity and impedance from the Andersen earth terminal to the main earth bar.
  • Check tightness and integrity of the earth terminal block inside the charger.
  • If earth is sound, test the PME/earth monitoring circuit on the main control PCB; replace the PCB if it fails manufacturer tests.

Do not bypass earth monitoring or protective devices. If you are not qualified, contact Andersen support or a certified EV installer.
