Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the wallbox supply at the dedicated breaker and verify with a non-contact voltage tester before touching any wiring. Do not open sealed modules if you are not qualified.
- Inspect the Type 2 plug and inlet: Disconnect the vehicle. Check the Audi wallbox Type 2 connector and the vehicle inlet for bent pins, melted plastic, corrosion, or dirt. Clean gently with a soft brush and isopropyl alcohol; do not use metal tools on pins.
- Try a different cable (if detachable): If your Audi charger uses a detachable Type 2 cable, swap it with a known-good cable rated for the same current. If E01 disappears, replace the original cable.
- Check cable strain relief: With power off, inspect where the cable enters the wallbox. If the sheath is pulled out or damaged, the CP/PP conductors may be broken. Do not tug on individual wires; if damage is visible, the cable assembly should be replaced.
- Power-cycle the charger: Turn off the breaker for 2 minutes, then restore power. Wait for the charger to boot and reattempt charging. If E01 returns immediately with multiple vehicles, the internal CP circuit on the main control board may be faulty and requires professional service.
If the error persists with multiple vehicles and cables, contact an Audi-approved electrician or service partner to test the control pilot signal and replace the control board or cable assembly as needed.
