Possible Causes

Vehicle drawing more current than configured limit, Incorrect current setting in wallbox configuration, Short circuit or partial short in charging cable, Faulty current sensor on power module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Overcurrent events can indicate serious wiring faults. If you smell burning or see smoke, disconnect power immediately at the breaker.

  • Check configured current limit: Using the Audi charger app or configuration interface, verify that the maximum charging current is correctly set for your supply and installation (e.g., 16 A, 32 A). Adjust if misconfigured.
  • Try a different vehicle: If possible, test with another EV. If E07 only occurs with one vehicle, the onboard charger in that vehicle may be faulty and drawing excessive current.
  • Inspect cable for damage: With power off, examine the cable for melted spots, bulges, or areas that feel unusually warm after use. Replace the cable assembly if any damage is found.
  • Professional current measurement: An electrician can use a clamp meter to verify actual current draw during charging. If the measured current is normal but the charger reports overcurrent, the internal current sensor or power module may be defective and require replacement.

Do not increase breaker size or bypass protections to avoid E07. Correct the underlying cause or replace faulty components.
