Possible Causes

Damaged Type 2 charging cable, Bent or contaminated vehicle inlet pins, Faulty pilot signal circuit on main control board, Loose connection on CP/PP wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the charger at the dedicated breaker and verify no voltage is present before opening any covers. Do not work on live EVSE circuits.

  • Inspect the connector: Check the Type 2 (or Type 1) plug for bent pins, melted plastic, corrosion, or debris. Clean gently with a soft brush and isopropyl alcohol; do not use metal tools on the pins.
  • Check cable strain: Look for kinks, cuts, or crushed sections along the Autel charging cable. If the insulation is damaged or the cable feels soft/flat in one area, discontinue use and replace the cable assembly.
  • Test with another vehicle: If possible, plug into a different EV to rule out a vehicle inlet issue. If the other vehicle charges normally, the fault may be with the first vehicle.
  • Verify CP/PP wiring: With power off and cover removed (only if you are qualified), inspect the control pilot (CP) and proximity pilot (PP) wires from the cable to the main control board. Ensure terminal screws are tight and no wires are pinched or broken.
  • Reset the charger: Restore power at the breaker, wait 60 seconds, and attempt a new charging session. If E001 persists, the pilot signal circuit on the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
