Possible Causes
Shorted CP to ground, Open CP resistor network in vehicle or charger, Damaged CP wire in cable, Faulty CP driver on main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before inspecting wiring.
- Inspect connector: Check the pilot pin in the connector for damage, contamination, or corrosion. Clean gently if needed.
- Check cable integrity: Look for visible damage along the cable. If the cable has been run over or sharply bent, the CP conductor may be broken or shorted.
- Test with another vehicle: Try charging a different EV. If E016 only occurs with one vehicle, the vehicle’s inlet or CP resistor network may be faulty.
- Internal CP wiring: With power off, verify the CP wire is securely connected to the main control board and not pinched or cut.
- Board diagnosis: If wiring and cable are good, the CP driver or sensing circuit on the main board may be defective and the board should be replaced.
