Possible Causes
Incorrect or open PP resistor in connector, Damaged PP wire in cable, Contaminated or corroded PP pin, Faulty PP sensing circuit on main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from vehicle and turn off power before inspection.
- Inspect PP pin: Examine the proximity pilot pin for dirt, corrosion, or mechanical damage. Clean with contact cleaner and a soft brush.
- Check cable strain relief: Excessive bending near the connector can break the PP conductor. Flex the cable gently while monitoring for intermittent connection (qualified testing only).
- Replace connector or cable: If the PP resistor inside the connector is open or out of tolerance, the entire connector or cable assembly must be replaced.
- Board check: If a known-good cable still results in E017, the PP sensing circuit on the main control board is likely faulty and requires board replacement.
